Interactive Development Process
Visual designers are creatures of process. We generally work in the same way... discover, design, validate, repeat. In my experience, I have found that developing and documenting that entire process has been a good exercise to help educate new team members, executives, and development teams.
Thinking about my work process in a timeline, I was able to create the framework and toolsets for the interactive development process at my advertising agency. I finally finished the final document guide that shows the steps and deliverables through the interactive project lifecycle. It maps various activities and deliverables against project roles and indicates major milestones. It has gone through several iterations over the past year. During that time, it has served as an excellent resource for educating clients (internal and external) about "the process" and what to expect at each phase of the cycle. Here an example snapshot of the final chart.
